For the connection to the train consist network (MVB, HDLC, IPTCom, TRDP, CIP, PROFINET), leading door manufacturers rely on duagon interface cards. The communication interface encapsulates all functionality to exchange real-time process data, reducing the load on the control unit. Additionally, the interface module incorporates advanced security features to harden the control units and thus, making the network more secure.


A secure Ethernet gateway with an integrated software firewall can act as application-layer gateway (ALG), separating the onboard operational (TCMS) network from the multimedia network. The ALG allows for real-time data to be exchanged in an efficient manner and ensuring Quality of Service. Additionally, multimedia streams are routed at a high throughput to share video and audio feeds across the networks.


The on-board multimedia and telematics system covers four categories of services, including video surveillance (CCTV), passenginer oriented services such as the passenger information system (PIS), driver and crew oriented services like seat reservation system and operator oriented services like condition-based maintenance. All of these services can be deployed on individual on-board computing systems or centralized on a single high-performance computing system. The centralized system handles all the data processing and communication interfaces required by the various services.
